Google Classroom #

Prepare and set up the classroom for the first time #

All subject and main classrooms will be created for the first time by the IT department for you. However, there are some important settings you have to do and to check for your Classroom:

  • Generate Meet Link: to enable the meet link for your Classroom for the first time you have to generate it
  • Make sure the link is visible to the students: to allow students to enter the meet link, you have to make sure this option is checked

Note: this applies only in classrooms where you want to enable meet on it, other subjects classrooms may stay without generating a meet link.
  • Hide Class Code: to prevent students from outside the class from joining your classroom, make sure you hide this class code since all students are already added to their proper classrooms by IT department.
  • Do not change the classroom name or section: since it will affect the monitoring and the unified naming formatting of classrooms. Keep the classroom name and section as it is created by the IT department.
  • Control if the students can post new posts and comments in the stream: allowing students to post new announcements in the stream tab is not recommended. Go to the Settings icon on the corner,

Scroll down to Stream settings, and choose “Students can only comment”. Click Save at the top. This will allow the teacher to announce the posts, and students can only comment on the teachers’ posts.
