Google Chat


Google Chat is a secure communications tool designed to provide easy business communications within the Google Workspace. With Google Chat, teams collaborate via text, build collaborative chat rooms, share documents, deliver presentations, and establish web conferences. #

2. Access Google Chat from Web #

You can access Google Chat from any browser, google chrome is highly recommended.

3. Install Desktop version #

You can install a Desktop version on your computer or laptop for easy and quick access to Google Chat. Also, you will see a new shortcut added to your Desktop.

4. Install Mobile version #

You can install Google Chat on your mobile like any other application. 

         

5. Create a new Space (chat room) #

You can create new Space rooms for your team to discuss projects and share files between Space members.

6. Add or create a new document file #

To allow a file to be available in the Space File Library, you have to upload the file to Google Drive first, then share it in Google Chat. You have three permission options when you add a new file to Space File Library:

1- Editor: all current and future space members can view and edit the file.

2- Viewer: all current and future Space members can view (Read-only) the file.

3- Commenter: all current and future Space members will be able to suggest and post comments on the content of documents, but it will not get published or visible to others until you approve it.

7. Create new tasks and mark them complete #

When you add a task, all Space members can view and edit these tasks with you. You can add Title, detail, due date, and assign tasks to Space members. Once you check any task, it will move to the “completed” section at the bottom, you can uncheck the task again to return it back to the tasks section. All these actions are displayed automatically on the chat page.

Note: In the web & desktop view, the right-side panel apps (Calendar, Keep notes, and tasks) are for personal use only.

8. Install Google tasks #

To receive tasks notification on your mobile, please download Google Tasks from your app store and login with your school gmail account.

         

9. Join instant Meet #

You can create and join an instant Meet session with your team members inside Google Chat.

10. Google team calendar #

Allows you to share the upcoming events with your team. Please see Google Team Calendar documentation.

 

  

How to Login

To login to KMCC Portal:

  1. Enter your school email address in “username or email” field. (e.g. ahmed@abaqalilm.com or ahmed@duratalsharq.com)
  2. Default password for the first time is “kmcc@123
  3. You can change your password from “reset password” page.
